Hemp Skirt: Forest of Secrets 2

I dyed the „Forest of Secrets” half-circle skirt using the ecoprint technique – every leaf left its own unique mark.

This skirt is from the „Wild Hemp” collection, made from a Polish-produced cotton-hemp blend fabric weighing 210g. It’s a heavier fabric than the ones I usually use, but thanks to its hemp fibre content, it’s very breathable. Its weight gives the skirt a lovely heft; it drapes beautifully and flows gracefully to the ground. You can wear it at any time of year.

I created this skirt using a natural plant-dyeing process known as ecoprint – a contact printing technique. To create it, I used leaves of sumac, walnut, horse chestnut and fern, as well as goldenrod and burdock flowers, which imparted their shapes and essence to the fabric. The background was dyed using decoctions of birch, cornflower and onion skins.

Made from a half-circle cut with a slit and pockets, and finished at the waist with soft, stretchy elastic – it offers complete freedom of movement and everyday comfort.
